American Declares Candidacy for President Under Name

A man from Texas has legally changed his name to "Anyone Else" and announced his candidacy for the U.S. presidency in 2024. The man, previously known as Dustin Eby, is a 35-year-old U.S. Army veteran and seventh-grade math teacher in the Dallas suburbs, and he now has a Texas driver's license to prove his name change. He stated that he wants to change his name because he is dissatisfied with this year's presidential candidates, Joe Biden and Donald Trump. He remarked, referring to the leading candidates for the highest office in the country: "Three hundred million people can do better." He continued, "There should really be an outlet for people like me who are tired of this ongoing power grab between the two parties that serves no benefit to the average person." He told news station WFAA88, "It's not necessarily about me as a person, it's literally about Anyone Else as a concept."

"Anyone Else" needs 113,000 signatures from non-primary voters in Texas by May to get his new name on the ballot. As that seems unlikely, he is campaigning to encourage people to write in his name. His campaign website states: “Literally, Anyone Else is not a person; it is a rallying cry.” He explained, "Americans have long been victims of political parties that place party loyalty over governance. Let's send a message to Washington together and say: You will represent us, or you will be replaced." America should not be stuck choosing between the "King of Debt" (his self-proclaimed nickname) and an 81-year-old man.
