Today, retired engineers have started their open sit-in until their demands are met, which include "improving pension salaries to match a decent standard of living and reducing healthcare fees." In a statement, they called on the "pension fund administration to study their proposals to increase the income of the pension fund, which will consequently lead to raising the proposed pension in the budget."
They mentioned that they met with "the head of the union, the secretary of the pension committee, and committee member Engineer Rabi Hassan at the sit-in location, reiterating their just and legitimate demands, and that they will not rest until their proposals are reconsidered to achieve these rightful demands. We will continue this movement and utilize all possible means daily without fatigue or boredom." They urged "the pension fund administration and the union council to pay attention to studying our proposals and fulfilling our legitimate demands, and we also call upon our fellow engineers, in addition to new candidates, to stand in solidarity with our just and legitimate demands. Thank you for your support."
