Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid is heading to the UAE today, Wednesday, for a "short political visit." Lapid's spokesperson stated that he is scheduled to depart on this "short political visit" to Abu Dhabi, without disclosing his agenda or meetings during this visit. In 2021, Lapid opened the Israeli embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Israeli consulate in Dubai during a visit that was the first official visit by an Israeli minister and the first since the Abraham Accords between Israel and the UAE. On another note, Lapid urged the Israeli government to "stop wasting time and immediately recruit the Haredi Jews." He also noted that he "informed U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has no political excuse for not finalizing a deal to return the abducted individuals."
