The Wall Street Journal noted today, Monday, that Senwar is betting on certain developments that will play a role in determining the course of escalation. The newspaper reported that in his latest message, Senwar clarified that there is no need to rush into securing a deal for the hostages. According to informed sources, the leader of the movement in Gaza hopes that the Israeli incursion into the city of Rafah during Ramadan will push Palestinians living in Israel and the West Bank to rise up against Israel. Tel Aviv has also indicated that Senwar prefers to escalate tensions during Ramadan rather than reach a ceasefire. While awaiting Senwar's public appearance again, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing officials within the movement, that reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza could be possible in the first week of Ramadan.
