Aid Ship Departing Cyprus Towards U.S. Dock Off Gaza

Tracking websites show that a ship carrying aid departed from Cyprus today, Thursday, heading towards a dock built by the United States off the coast of Gaza. The ship, Sagamore, flying the American flag, left Larnaca port this morning. U.S. officials stated that supplies from the ship are scheduled to be unloaded at a floating dock constructed to expedite the delivery of aid to the besieged region. The military campaign, which Israel claims aims to eliminate Hamas following its attack on Israel on October 7, has devastated the small Gaza Strip, where relief agencies warn that its 2.3 million residents are on the brink of famine. Cyprus opened a maritime corridor in March for direct aid shipments to Gaza, which has been severely challenged in receiving aid via land routes due to border closures and Israeli military operations.
