A majority of members from both the Republican and Democratic parties in the US House of Representatives voted today, Saturday, in favor of a bill that could effectively ban the TikTok application in the United States. The bill is part of a larger package of legislation providing $95 billion in aid to allies around the world. Voting is still ongoing in the GOP-controlled House. Additionally, the House passed a measure aimed at containing China militarily through investment in submarines and assistance to Taiwan. This measure allocates $8 billion for that purpose and requires approval from the Senate, which is expected to vote on it starting Tuesday.
