House Speaker Nabih Berri received French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu and the accompanying delegation today, Friday, at the presidency's second headquarters in Ain El Tineh, in the presence of the French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro. The discussions focused on the general situation in Lebanon and the region, in light of the escalating Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the Lebanese border villages with occupied Palestine.
President Berri also received a delegation from the "Union of Muslim Scholars." After the meeting, Sheikh Ghazi Haniniya, the head of the Union of Muslim Scholars, stated: "In these delicate circumstances that our nation is going through in general and Palestine in particular, our meeting with President Berri gains special and exceptional importance. We learned from him his views on the developments in the Lebanese arena. He confirmed that the historical achievement of the resistance in Palestine during the Al-Aqsa Flood epic is a pivotal moment in the struggle against the Zionist enemy and the beginning of significant achievements in restoring the usurped rights of the Palestinian people. He assured us that he is closely monitoring the Lebanese government's preparations to address any new developments."
He added, "For our part, we affirmed to the President that the Al-Aqsa Flood epic confirmed that the Palestinian cause has always been and remains a representation of the unity of the nation against the Zionist aggression, which was reflected in the massive human tide across many Arab and Islamic countries, thwarting all attempts by the nation's enemies to ignite sectarian and confessional strife."
