Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid launched an attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government for its failure to reach a deal for the release of hostages held by the Palestinian Hamas movement, which has sparked angry demonstrations in Tel Aviv. Lapid wrote on the platform "X": "Netanyahu's ministers appear on air, one after the other this morning, attacking the families of the captives. You are insane; young women, the elderly, and children have been kidnapped under your watch."
Lapid added: "Netanyahu's government has failed for half a year to bring the captives home and then blames their families? This government of destruction must go home, and early elections should be held now." Anti-Netanyahu groups and the families of the hostages are preparing to set up a tent city for four days outside the Knesset, demanding an agreement for the release of the Israeli captives and new elections in the country.
