Lebanese Security Forces Apprehend Shooter After Injuring Six

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces arrested the shooter involved in an incident in Sabra that resulted in six injuries, including a child. In a statement from the Public Relations Division, it was stated: "On June 4, 2023, a video circulated on social media showing a dispute and a scuffle in the Sabra area, which escalated into gunfire from an individual, resulting in six injuries, including a child. As part of the ongoing work by the Internal Security Forces to combat all types of crimes, particularly uncontrolled firearms and shooters, the Beirut Police's Inquiry Division was tasked with conducting field investigations to identify the individual responsible for the shooting.

As a result of intensive inquiries and investigations, the unit managed to identify the suspect as: A. J. (born in 1987 - unregistered).” The statement continued: “On July 18, 2023, following careful surveillance, a patrol from the unit apprehended him in the area of Ramlet el-Baida. Upon searching him, a black 'Hershal' pistol, caliber 9mm, loaded with 14 rounds, and another magazine containing 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition were confiscated. A quantity of hashish, rolling papers, and two tramadol pills in an envelope were also found in his possession. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges related to the shooting. He was referred along with the confiscated items to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings based on the judicial directive."
