Following the announcement of joint talks between Fatah and Hamas under Chinese sponsorship, both Palestinian movements affirmed the necessity of national unity and ending the division, within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), the legitimate and sole representative of the Palestinian people, by including all Palestinian forces and factions in it and its institutions.
At the conclusion of the national dialogue session held between the two movements in Beijing, they agreed on the importance of a united Palestinian stance regarding the aggression against the Gaza Strip, underlining the urgency to cease the genocidal war and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza, as well as to coordinate joint national efforts in delivering urgent aid and relief to the region, according to the Palestinian News Agency "Wafa."
The two movements also agreed on the necessity to revive their joint committees, address any issues encountered, and stop the media back-and-forth. They emphasized the importance of coordinating positions and efforts in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, to confront settler attacks on villages and towns, as well as assaults on Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The movements highlighted the priority of the prisoners' issue and the need to maintain their rights and support them during this difficult phase, where they are subjected to the worst forms of abuse and mistreatment inside prisons.
These developments followed the announcement of the joint talks between Fatah and Hamas under Chinese sponsorship, with the Chinese foreign ministry confirming that both sides expressed a willingness for dialogue. Spokesperson Zhao Lijian stated that the two parties conveyed a political desire to achieve Palestinian reconciliation through dialogue. He added in a regular press conference that representatives from both movements had recently come to Beijing for deep and candid discussions aimed at promoting reconciliation.
