UAE to Host World Judo Championship 2024

The International Judo Federation unanimously approved the UAE's bid to host and organize the World Judo Championship in May 2024, which represents the main event of the International Federation. Mohamed bin Thaloub Al Darai, President of the Judo Federation, confirmed receiving a call from the President of the International Judo Federation, Marius Vizer, informing him of the unanimous decision to grant the upcoming World Championship to the UAE, a "main and important partner" of the International Judo Federation since 2009.

He added, "This global event will be the final main stop in the qualification tour for the Paris 2024 Olympics, featuring the best athletes from around the world, and we are confident that we will witness the highest level of judo competitions, with record participation from the world's elite players." Al Darai expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the wise leadership for their support and interest in the youth and sports sector, as well as to the National Olympic Committee, the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, and the International Judo Federation, hoping for an exceptional organization of the championship to affirm the UAE's distinguished global status in hosting major events.
