The Relationship Between Poor Exercise Tolerance and Heart Problems

Cardiologist and member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Philip Baliyev, announced that fatigue during regular physical activity and the appearance of swelling in the feet may indicate heart problems. According to him, poor exercise tolerance can signal issues with the heart, especially if a person feels tired quickly from performing the same exercises that previously did not cause any discomfort. He states: "For example, brisk walking or climbing stairs. If a person could calmly ascend to the fifth floor without feeling tired and now can only climb to the third floor after taking a break, this is concerning and requires a doctor's consultation."

He adds that the second sign is the appearance of swelling in the legs. He continues: "If a person notices that it has become difficult to wear their usual shoes because they have become tight, this is not a definitive sign, but swelling in the legs is often associated with heart function." Professor Baliyev also mentions that what is referred to as "store window disease" can indicate heart problems. "When a person starts to frequently stop in front of shop windows, this condition is called 'store window disease' and can indeed suggest peripheral artery occlusive disease, which causes pain in the legs, forcing the person to stop to rest while pretending to be looking at the displays to avoid drawing attention from others."
