Death of Five Senior Leaders in Airstrike in Syria, Including a Senior Hezbollah Commander

An airstrike targeting Iran-affiliated armed groups in the city of Al-Mayadeen in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, eastern Syria, resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including a senior commander from Hezbollah. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that explosions were heard in Al-Mayadeen, which it described as a hub for Iranian armed groups in Syria, coinciding with the flight of unidentified drones over the area. The observatory stated that the attack was carried out with three rockets, leading to the deaths of leaders within the Iranian armed groups. It noted that security and military forces were positioned alongside the Iranian armed groups near the al-Balhoun roundabout, where the explosions occurred.
