Eighth Largest Jackpot in U.S. Lottery History!

The eighth largest lottery jackpot in U.S. history will be available for drawing in the Powerball lottery on Saturday night, with the prize estimated at over $1.3 billion. The drawing is scheduled for 11 PM Eastern Time (03:00 GMT Sunday), and this drawing is the 41st since the last person won the jackpot on New Year's Day. To win the lottery, the winner or winners must match the six correct numbers on a $2 ticket, with odds of one in 292.2 million. This is the fourth largest jackpot in Powerball history and is slightly more than half of the largest lottery prize in U.S. history. The largest jackpot ever recorded in the U.S. was awarded in November 2022 when someone in California won the Powerball grand prize of $2.04 billion. Last week, a ticket matched all six numbers in the Mega Millions drawing and won a huge amount of $1.13 billion, making it the fifth largest prize in Powerball history. This ticket was sold in New Jersey. If the winner chooses to accept the prize as a lump sum, its value in Saturday's drawing will be about $608.9 million. The other option is to take an initial payment followed by 29 annual payments. Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states across the U.S., as well as in Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.
