A spokesman for the German government stated today, Tuesday, that "the International Criminal Court's request to issue arrest warrants for leaders of Hamas is logical and cannot be compared to the Israeli Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for whom arrest warrants are also sought." He added that "the allegations made by the prosecutor (of the court) are serious and must be proven." The spokesman further noted that "Germany assumes that the judges will consider that Israel has a democratic system, a rule of law, and an independent judicial system when deciding whether to issue the arrest warrants."
