The Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, arrived at Rafic Hariri International Airport early this morning to participate in the celebration marking the announcement of "Beirut: Capital of Arab Youth 2023" and the "Arab Forum for Economic and Social Empowerment." He was welcomed at the airport by Hassan Sharara, Head of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Hussein Omar, Director of the Minister's Office, alongside the Egyptian Ambassador, Yasser Alawi.
The opening ceremony will take place at 5:30 PM today at the Habtoor Hotel, with the participation of several Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports, representatives from the Arab League, and a host of Lebanese officials, including ministers, parliamentarians, and public figures, along with 60 young people from 16 Arab countries. Concurrently with the celebration, the "Arab Youth Forum for Economic and Social Empowerment" will commence, featuring speeches from UNICEF, Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, the Minister of Youth and Sports in the caretaker government, George Kallas, as well as remarks on empowerment from the Egyptian minister. The forum, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and UNICEF in Lebanon, marks the first activities of Beirut: Capital of Arab Youth 2023, and will start at 10 AM today, Thursday.
