Malaysian Player Attacked with Acid: What's the Story?

Malaysian national football team player Faisal Halim will undergo surgeries today, Tuesday, after suffering fourth-degree burns from an acid attack. Halim, 26, who plays for Selangor FC, sustained burns to his neck, shoulder, hands, and chest in Petaling Jaya, near the capital Kuala Lumpur, over the weekend. Selangor state's police chief, Hussein Omar Khan, stated, "Investigations into the motive behind the attack are still ongoing, and two individuals have been arrested."

In a related development, the deputy president of Selangor FC, Shahril Mokhtar, said, "I am at the hospital. Faisal's condition is critical but stable." He added, "When he was transferred to the hospital immediately after the incident, doctors assessed his condition as second-degree burns. However, after being moved to a second hospital, a plastic surgeon diagnosed it as fourth-degree burns." He noted that Faisal, who has already undergone surgery following his transfer to the hospital, will require at least two additional surgeries. He continued, "We are in shock and disappointed to see such an attack happening in Malaysia. I am also concerned about the mental health of the other players before the new season starts on Friday."

Pray for Faisal Halim.
