Arsenal scored three goals in the first half and faltered in the second before winning 3-2 against host Tottenham in a top match on Sunday, continuing its quest for its first Premier League title in 20 years, largely competing with Manchester City as Liverpool's hopes have faded. Arsenal opened the scoring with an own goal by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who failed to clear a corner taken by Bukayo Saka, putting the ball into his own net in the 15th minute. Saka added a second goal in the 27th minute after receiving a brilliant long ball from Kai Havertz and striking it powerfully from the right side of the box into the net. Havertz scored the third goal with a header after a corner taken by Declan Rice from the left in the 38th minute. Cristian Romero reduced the margin for Tottenham after intercepting a poor pass from Arsenal's keeper, Riva Raya, and shooting the ball into the net in the 64th minute. Son Heung-min scored Tottenham's second goal from a penalty in the 87th minute. Arsenal strengthened its lead in the competition with 80 points from 35 matches, four points ahead of City, which will play later Sunday against Nottingham Forest. Liverpool is in third place with 75 points from 35 matches.
