Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani issued several instructions today, Wednesday, concerning the incident of students being run over in Basra Governorate. A statement released by the Prime Minister's media office indicated that "Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani has directed the Minister of Education to go to Basra Governorate to assess the aftermath of the tragic incident that occurred in Al-Hartha District, which resulted in the deaths of several students."
It added that "the Minister of Education will convey the Prime Minister's condolences to the families of the victims, wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured, and ensure the provision of necessary medical services. He will also follow up on the investigation into the details and causes of the incident, and the prompt measures required to prevent such tragedies from recurring, as well as support the families of the victims and stand by them during these difficult times that call for solidarity and consolation."
