Collapse of the Ismailia Bridge in Egypt: Flooding of Homes and Agricultural Lands

This morning, Sunday, in the village of Ain Ghossin in Egypt's Ismailia Governorate, there was a partial collapse of one side of the canal, resulting in damage and flooding of some agricultural lands and several homes. The executive body and the Governor of Ismailia promptly visited the site of the collapse, where it was found that the western embankment of the Western Ismailia Canal near Ain Ghossin had collapsed, causing water to flow into nearby residential and agricultural areas. Authorities are continuing efforts to prevent water from leaking from the canal into surrounding regions. Eyewitnesses reported that due to the bridge's weakness and age, a section of the right bank of the Suez Canal coming from the village of Nafisha towards the Governorate of Suez partially collapsed in the area of kilometer 10, before the Qabaa neighborhood in Ain Ghossin, due to the bridge's deterioration.
