Two Killed in Russian Shelling in Kharkiv

The governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Synyehubov, reported that intense Russian artillery shelling on border towns in the northeastern part of Ukraine, along with a ground assault, has resulted in the deaths of at least two civilians. He stated via Telegram that "one person was killed and five were injured in the town of Vovchansk, and he noted the death of another person in a neighboring town."

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced that "Russia has launched a ground offensive in the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine, where battles are ongoing between its forces and those of Kyiv," clarifying that "the enemy attempted to breach our defensive line under the cover of armored vehicles."

A Ukrainian military source reported that "Russian forces have advanced one kilometer in the Kharkiv region near Vovchansk." The source told a media outlet that "the Russian army aims to advance by up to ten kilometers into the area in an effort to create a buffer zone." The Ukrainian forces are fighting to prevent Moscow's advance.
