Kuwaiti Amir Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah arrived in Egypt today, Tuesday, marking his first visit since assuming power in December of last year. In recent months, the Amir, who took over leadership after the passing of his brother, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has made similar visits to all Gulf Cooperation Council countries as well as Jordan.
Kuwait's ambassador to Egypt, Ghanem Al-Ghanem, emphasized the significance of this "historic visit," noting that the Amir will meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Al-Ghanem told the Kuwaiti news agency that the visit "will give a boost to the distinguished relations between the two brotherly countries and elevate them to broader horizons covering wider areas."
Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had visited Egypt twice while serving as Crown Prince, representing the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; the first visit was in 2022 to participate in the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 27), and the second was in 2023 to attend the Cairo Peace Summit.
Relations between Kuwait and Egypt date back to before Kuwait's independence in 1961, with both countries consistently coordinating their positions on international and regional levels.
