The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced today, Saturday, the "execution of a citizen for committing acts that involve treason against the homeland, disrupting the public order of the state, undermining community security, and adopting a terrorist ideology." The ministry's statement indicated that "by the grace of God and in light of the information available to the security agencies, a citizen named Nauman bin Aft bin Madihi Al-Zufairi - a Saudi national - was arrested on 6 Jumada Al-Thani 1442 Hijri (January 19, 2021) for committing criminal acts that amount to treason against his country aimed at disrupting the public order of the state and undermining community security and stability, as well as adopting a terrorist ideology that permits the shedding of blood and the plundering of wealth and dignity, and his support for terrorist thoughts and acts."
The statement continued: "The investigation by the Public Prosecution concluded with charges against the individual for committing those criminal acts. After being referred to the specialized criminal court, a ruling was issued affirming his conviction for the charges. He was sentenced to death, and the ruling was upheld by the Specialized Criminal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. The execution was carried out on Saturday, 18 Shawwal 1445 Hijri, corresponding to April 27, 2024, in the Riyadh region."
The statement added: "The Ministry of Interior announces this to emphasize its commitment to maintaining security and achieving justice, and to eliminate anyone attempting to undermine the security of the homeland or endanger its unity. It confirms that legal punishment will be the fate of anyone who dares to commit such acts, in order to cut off their evil and deter others. And God is the guide to the right path."
