At a regionally sensitive time with the ongoing Israeli war in the Gaza Strip for the seventh consecutive month, Jordan has thwarted an "Iranian conspiracy" to smuggle weapons into its territory for the purpose of carrying out sabotage, according to two informed Jordanian sources. They clarified that the weapons were sent by Iranian-backed factions in Syria to a cell affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, which has links to the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement. They also added that the stash was seized when members of the cell, who are Jordanians of Palestinian origin, were arrested.
