The Bahraini actor, writer, and theater director Abdullah Al-Saadi passed away at the age of 76, after a lengthy artistic career spanning several decades. Al-Saadi is considered a pioneer of theater in Bahrain, having worked as a director, actor, screenwriter, and critic in various intellectual fields. He began his artistic career in 1964 and joined the People's Union Theater in Muharraq in 1970, where he participated in the troupe's first theatrical work titled "Antigone." He also contributed to the establishment of the "Al-Sadd" Theater in Qatar and the "Sharjah" Theater in the UAE. Later, he founded the "Isa Town Club" laboratory and the Al-Sawari Theater in Bahrain. Al-Saadi received numerous awards, including the Best Director award at the Cairo Experimental Festival for his play "The Mask." Among his notable theatrical works as a director are: "Men and the Sea," "The Companions," "The Nightmare," "The Hostages," "Escorial," "The Mask," "The Offering," "The Innocent Child," "The Disaster," "The Closed Curtain," "My Fanatical Son," "Portrait," "Life is Not Serious," and "12 O'Clock Midnight."
