Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad emphasized the necessity of enhancing and developing bilateral relations during a phone call on Wednesday. According to the Iraqi Presidential Media Office, Rashid received a call from Assad to exchange greetings and congratulations in celebration of Eid al-Fitr, expressing their best wishes for further progress and prosperity for the two brotherly nations.
Rashid highlighted the importance of Syria's stability and security in achieving the Syrian people's aspirations for peace and harmony. Both presidents stressed the need to stop the ongoing aggression in Gaza and provide relief for the Palestinian people, underlining the importance of the international community fulfilling its legal and moral responsibilities.
Additionally, Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani and President Assad discussed the major challenges facing the region and the world. During their phone call, the two sides addressed the bilateral relations and significant challenges, including the continued brutal aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the disregard of the occupying authorities for calls to halt the massacres against innocent civilians, as noted in a statement from al-Sudani's media office.
