Al-Buzri Calls for Continued Monitoring of Waste Management in Sidon

MP Abdul Rahman Al-Buzri thanked the members of the participatory committee monitoring the waste management issue in Sidon, which represents the city’s MPs and various active political and community forces, and coordinates with the Sidon municipality on environmental matters, for their detailed report and ongoing follow-up. He emphasized that although the report contains some positives, it points to serious issues that need to be addressed and accountability determined, especially given the center's current inability to process the entire quantities of waste it receives and its previous failures in handling them, leading to uncontrolled and untested disposal methods that pose risks to the environment, soil, and surrounding waters in the treatment center area. Al-Buzri stressed the "necessity of coordination between the committee, the Sidon-Zahrani Union of Municipalities, the Sidon Municipality, and the Ministry of Environment to ensure proper operational procedures in waste management and to maintain sound environmental conditions."
