Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi revealed the date for the return of fellow countryman and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to the "Pharaohs" national team. Ashraf Sobhi stated in an interview with Egyptian radio "ON SPORT FM": "I am in contact with Salah, and he will be present in the upcoming national team camp, God willing." He continued, saying: "All respect and appreciation to Egypt’s star (Mohamed Salah), no matter the obstacles, he will be present. We support and trust the national team coach and his administrative director, but there has been intervention from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and myself in this matter (the player's joining the national team), and all matters are going well."
The national team camp is scheduled to commence at the end of May, with the official international agenda starting between June 3 and June 11. The Egyptian team will face Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau next month in the first-round qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Mohamed Salah missed the national team's camp in March at his own request, seeking to be fully prepared after recovering from a prior muscle injury that kept him off the field for a period of time.
