Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, spoke about the love story she shares with her husband, confirming that she postponed their official relationship for a decade due to her concerns for her children and their lives. The First Lady of France, who is 70 years old, mentioned in an interview with "Paris Match" that she delayed marrying President Macron, who is 45 years old, for ten years for the sake of her three children, who are approximately the same age as her husband.
She added that their relationship faced numerous difficulties, including opposition from Macron’s family, which sent him off to Paris to attend another school upon discovering their relationship. This made her believe he would forget about her and change his mind, which did not happen, according to Fox News.
Young Macron fell in love with Brigitte Auzié when he was only fifteen, while she was married and 25 years older than him. She was also the drama teacher at a school in northern France, and her daughter Laurence was a classmate of Macron.
Their relationship, which blossomed over the years, caused a scandal in the region, prompting Macron's parents to send him to Paris for a different school, leading Brigitte to lose hope. She eventually left her job, stating that the "only obstacle" before her was her children, as she did not want to ruin their lives.
It wasn't until her divorce was finalized from her husband, from whom she had already separated some time before, that she married her former student, who was then a government employee in his late twenties, in 2007.
Notably, the First Lady has always tried to convey that her much younger husband continuously captivates her with his charm and surprises her with his intelligence. She remarked, "I had many talented students, but none had his abilities," adding, "I have always been impressed by him."
