U.S. Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro revealed that "we have responded to hundreds of missiles and drones launched by the Houthis over the past six months," noting that "more than 300 attacks targeted U.S. and allied warships in the Red Sea." He emphasized that "our forces in the Mediterranean recently shot down several Iranian ballistic missiles aimed at Israel." The U.S. Secretary urged lawmakers to "approve a financial package to replenish munitions," stating, "Munitions are extremely important for the department to counter these attacks, and we currently have nearly one billion dollars' worth of munitions that we need to replenish. Therefore, the amount of over 2 billion dollars specified in the supplemental annex is crucial for our naval forces so that we can renew those munitions and continue to provide the types of defensive actions we have taken over the past six and a half months."
