The last four members of the K-pop group "BTS" will start their 18-month military service in South Korea this week, joining three other members who are already serving, which means the fans will have to wait until 2025 to see the group perform again as a complete unit. Fans gathered today, Monday, in rainy weather to bid farewell to Kim Namjoon, known as "RM," the leader of the seven-member group, and singer Kim Taehyung, known as "V," in front of their training camp in Nonsan, South Korea.
V wrote on the fans' platform "Weverse": "I think I'll be okay except for one thing, which is that I won't be able to make happy memories with you for a while, and that’s the hardest part," wishing the audience success and happiness. RM also mentioned that he would feel lonely at times, "but eighteen months will give me a chance to gain inspiration and learn new things."
According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, the duo was accompanied by two other members of the group, Jimin and Jungkook, who will begin their military service tomorrow, Tuesday, while the other three members have had a day off from military service. Military service is mandatory in South Korea for all healthy males aged between 18 and 28, lasting approximately two years.
