Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced today, Wednesday, that "half of Hezbollah's leaders in southern Lebanon have been eliminated, and the coming period will be crucial." He stated, "We are attacking Hezbollah elements; half of them are dead, and the other half are hiding." He continued, "We are conducting an offensive operation across all of southern Lebanon."
Israeli media reported that Galant visited the Northern Command, where an operational discussion took place with Commanding General Ori Gordian, as well as intelligence, operations, and firefighting officers. At the end of the meeting, Galant declared, "Half of Hezbollah's leaders in southern Lebanon have been eliminated. These were the people responsible for offensive actions with the intention of harming Israeli citizens. We have caused the deaths of half of them, and the other half is hiding, leaving southern Lebanon exposed to the Israeli army's operation."
Galant added that "the main goal is to return the northern residents to their homes, and the coming period will be crucial." Concurrently, the Israeli army announced that it had attacked around 40 Hezbollah targets within minutes using fighter jets and artillery in the town of Aita ash-Shab in southern Lebanon, according to a statement by the Israeli army spokesperson, who noted that among the targets were storage facilities, weapons, and the party's infrastructure.
