Death of a Palestinian Detainee in Israeli "Hadarim" Prison

Death of a Palestinian Detainee in Israeli

On Saturday, the Palestinian Authority for Prisoner and Released Prisoner Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Club announced the death of detainee Abdul Rahim Abdul Karim Amer (59 years old) from Qalqilya in Israeli "Hadarim" prison. The authority and the club stated in a joint announcement that "there is no clear information yet about the circumstances of the martyrdom of detainee Amer." It is noted that Israeli occupation forces arrested him and his son from the city of Tira in the Triangle area within the 1948 territories after they went to look for work on March 17. He was sentenced to one month in prison for allegedly entering the 1948 territories without a permit.

The authority and the club mourned "detainee Amer, a martyr of a livelihood," who is a father of seven children, and who rose in "Hadarim" prison, adding to the lists of our martyrs among the workers who are subjected daily to abuse, torture, detention, pursuit, and arrest. The statement pointed out that "after October 7, the occupation arrested thousands of workers and carried out unprecedented torture against them," referring to "the widespread arrest campaigns targeting workers from Gaza in the 1948 territories and the West Bank."

The statement confirmed that the number of detainees who have died since October 7 has risen to 16, including three workers, following the death of detainee Abdul Rahim Amer. The authority and the club held the Israeli authorities fully responsible for his death, "at a time when they continue their collective extermination against our people in Gaza, and their comprehensive aggression, using all their systematic policies to target our existence and tighten the screws on our people by all organized means and tools."
