Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has urged voters to reelect Joe Biden as president, despite acknowledging that he is "elderly." Clinton expressed her views on the radio show "Mornings with Zerlina," stating, "Let's move forward and accept the reality: Joe Biden is elderly."
Nevertheless, Clinton encouraged voters to continue supporting Biden, arguing that the increasing concerns about the oldest president ever, who will be 86 at the end of a potential second term, are not comparable to the fears that would arise if former President Donald Trump, 77, returned to the White House.
She added, "Someone told me once, 'Well, you know, Joe Biden is elderly.' I said, 'You know, Joe Biden is elderly, but let's go forward and accept the truth. We have a competition between an elderly candidate who has done effective work and does not threaten our democracy, and we have another elderly candidate who hardly makes sense when he speaks, is dangerous, and threatens our democracy.'"
Clinton emphasized the importance of the choice between Biden and Trump in the 2024 U.S. presidential election to save American democracy, regardless of political affiliation, in order to preserve freedom and the rule of law, and protect people's fundamental rights.
"Fox News" clarified that former aides to former President Barack Obama believe that age is "a very real problem" for Biden, who appears "weak" and "confused." Thus, while Clinton urged people to acknowledge that Biden is elderly, she avoided mentioning issues related to Biden's mental capability, instead pointing out that Trump is the one with memory issues.
She continued, "Listen to Donald Trump, who seems loud, nonsensical, and cannot even remember who he is competing against. He constantly talks about Barack Obama as if he is his opponent."
