Imagine going into your child's room only to find the second most dangerous snake in the world waiting for you in the underwear drawer. This is exactly what happened to an Australian woman, who called in local snake catcher Mark Beattie for help. Beattie stated he removed a 5-foot eastern brown snake from a 3-year-old's bedroom, according to the New York Post. He also wrote on Facebook: "The mother went to get some clothes for her son, but instead found a large 5-foot brown snake." He added, "We discovered what happened. While the lady was taking clothes off the clothesline, the brown snake crawled toward her."
However, some questioned on Facebook how the mother did not notice the snake "sneaking" up. Beattie explained that these reptiles are lightweight, so people often overlook them, saying, "Their weight is hardly anything," and noted that "this can happen to anyone." He further mentioned, "I have seen people carrying brown snakes in their handbags or shopping bags."
It is worth noting that eastern brown snakes are "fast-moving and aggressive and known for their bad temper," according to Australia Geographic. Their native habitat extends across eastern and central Australia, as well as southern New Guinea. They can grow up to 7 feet long.
