An alligator spotted on a street in Pinellas County, Florida, caused panic among school students who use the road to get to school each day. The story began when a citizen called the police to inform them about a large alligator seen on a path used by children walking to and from school, according to a post on Instagram by the police.
The post clarified that the alligator measured 12.5 feet long, prompting the police to contact a specialized organization to capture and relocate it, while closing the street to prevent pedestrians from approaching until specialized hunters arrived to catch the animal. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office also noted in their post that the contracted hunters safely transported the alligator to a location in South Florida, with police assisting in controlling and capturing the alligator, as reported by Newsweek.
Meanwhile, a farm worker in another part of the Sunshine State was attacked this week by a rampaging alligator, which bit his leg, causing severe injuries after grabbing the side of his thigh.
