Return of Faisal and Schiller to Global GT Challenge Competitions

Omani champion driver Faisal Al Zubair and his German teammate Fabian "Fabi" Schiller are returning to the open Global GT Challenge competitions after missing the second round held at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. They will compete in the third round hosted at the Hungaroring circuit in Hungary this weekend. Drivers from "Al Manar Racing Team" lead the overall series standings after their victory in the first round in Portugal, holding a two-point lead over their nearest rivals. They are driving a Mercedes-AMG GT3 car supervised by "GetSpeed Team."

The Belgian round was not part of Faisal's race schedule for the 2023 season, resulting in Faisal and Fabian dropping to fourth place in the overall standings behind British duo Charlie Fagg/Samuel De Haan, Argentine Marcos Siebert/Mexican Diego Munchaca, and Simon Reichert/Christopher Haas from "EASTALNT."

Faisal stated, "I am really looking forward to this round of the open international GT series at the Hungaroring near Budapest this weekend. I believe that Fabi and I, with the GetSpeed Mercedes, have a great package and we are aiming to win both races this round, God willing."

He added, "Our participation in the first round was fantastic; we didn’t take part in the second round because we won’t be competing in all rounds of the season. Fabi and I have previously raced at the Hungaroring, so we have complete confidence at this circuit with the Mercedes. We hope luck will be on our side."

The open international GT competitions will kick off at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród with the drivers participating in two free practice sessions on Friday, the first at 10:04 AM and the second at 3:02 PM, each lasting an hour. Qualifying for the race will take place on Saturday at 9:45 AM for 30 minutes, determining the starting positions on the grid, followed by a 70-minute race starting at 2:25 PM, with a rolling start.

The qualifying session for the second race will be held at a similar time on Sunday morning, followed by the second race, which will last only one hour, starting at 2 PM.

Below is the provisional overall standings after the second round:

01- Charlie Fagg/Samuel De Haan: 50 Points

02- Marcos Siebert/Diego Munchaca: 45 Points

03- Christopher Haas/Simon Reichert: 42 Points
