Iran has announced that it will hold presidential elections on June 28, following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash. The state television reported, "The date for the elections was approved during a meeting of the heads of the judiciary, government, and parliament," adding, "According to the preliminary agreement of the Guardian Council, the 14th presidential elections will take place on June 28." The spokesperson for the Iranian elections committee indicated that "June 8 has been proposed for the 14th presidential election, and accordingly, the candidate registration date will be June 8."
