Retired Soldiers: Protest Scheduled for Tomorrow Concurrently with Government Session

A statement was issued today, Tuesday, by the Gathering of Retired Soldiers: "The Gathering of Retired Soldiers rejects the proposed offer regarding the correction of salaries and wages in the public sector, which stipulates giving officers three pensions and non-commissioned officers four pensions, with a minimum of 8 million Lebanese pounds, as it does not meet the minimum demands called for by the Gathering to achieve justice, equality, and a minimum standard of decent living for all families of martyrs, employees, soldiers, and retirees."

The Gathering also demands that the government "consider the proposed solutions put forth by the retired soldiers that take into account the spending ceiling and the allocated budgets that preserve monetary stability."

Finally, the Gathering calls on all employees and retirees, both military and civilian, to gather in Riad al-Solh Square at 2 PM, coinciding with the scheduled session of ministers set for tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28, 2024." The statement concluded: "A right will not die if there are demands behind it."
