Phone Call Between Sisi and Putin: Topics Discussed

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a phone call today, Thursday, with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, during which he congratulated him on his re-election for a new presidential term. The call also addressed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, as well as discussing a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, including developments in the Gaza Strip.

For its part, the Kremlin announced that during the phone conversation, Putin and Sisi expressed their satisfaction with the evolving Russian-Egyptian cooperation in line with the strategic partnership. The Kremlin’s statement noted that President Putin congratulated President Sisi and the entire Egyptian people on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The conversation highlighted the appreciation and satisfaction regarding the multifaceted Russian-Egyptian cooperation that is successfully developing in accordance with the strategic partnership, and large-scale mutually beneficial projects are being implemented across different fields.

Putin expressed his deep appreciation for Cairo's efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The Kremlin added: "Given Egypt's full membership in BRICS, it will actively participate in events held under the Russian presidency."

It was agreed to continue communications at various levels.
