Kuwait Announces Withdrawal of Citizenship from 11 Individuals Including Suspect in Gaddafi Leaks Case

The Kuwaiti Cabinet has issued a decision to withdraw citizenship from 11 individuals, including Hakem Al-Mutairi, who has been in Turkey for several years following life sentences issued against him in connection with the Gaddafi leaks case, according to "Russia Today." The High Committee for Nationality Investigation based its decision on Article 11 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law, which stipulates that a citizen who obtains the nationality of another country loses their Kuwaiti citizenship. It is worth noting that Al-Mutairi has been residing in Turkey for several years and was sentenced to life imprisonment in April 2021 after secret recordings emerged in 2020 from the tent of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, including a clip in which he requested financial support to create unrest in Kuwait. The leaks also included some clips revealing Al-Mutairi's conspiracy to destabilize the situation in Gulf countries.
