Haaretz: Sisi Achieved Gains at Netanyahu's Expense

The Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" noted that "Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has failed to address the Hamas movement over the past years, while Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has garnered diplomatic gains." The left-leaning Hebrew newspaper, known for its opposition to the Israeli government, stated that during every confrontation between Israel and Hamas, President Sisi was called upon, dictating the terms of understanding between them and reaping significant diplomatic benefits.

Senior political analyst Tzvi Braverman confirmed that "Cairo and Tel Aviv need to consider working together in Gaza without Hamas." Braverman added: "Egypt and Sisi have positioned themselves as the sole intermediaries between Israel and Hamas, and now they should think together about a plan for the day after in Gaza without Hamas."

The well-known Israeli political analyst emphasized that "the strategy led by Benjamin Netanyahu against Hamas, aimed at thwarting any opportunity for political negotiations between Israel and a representative Palestinian leadership, heavily relied on the 'concept' that the essence is 'money will bring peace' and not just security. This means weakening the Palestinian Authority and jeopardizing any political plan."

He continued: "After the collapse of this concept, Netanyahu is making a tremendous effort to salvage something from the strategy, as his statements deny any possibility of the Palestinian Authority taking responsibility for managing the Gaza Strip as a core element, but while Netanyahu bears direct and sole responsibility for the strategy's position, he had a key partner in nurturing this concept, which is the Egyptian president."
