Title: Palestinian Novelist and Artist Mazen Saadieh Passes Away at 65

The General Union of Palestinian Writers and Authors mourned the loss of Palestinian novelist and artist Mazen Saadieh, who passed away at the age of 65 after a fruitful career. In a statement, poet Murad Al-Sudani, the Secretary-General of the union, expressed that "the early departure of our colleague Mazen Saadieh is a significant loss for the national cultural scene and the creative state in Palestine, as his presence has always been a diligent movement in literary action, contributing greatly to the national library."

Saadieh died in Jordan, as his family reported, while he was receiving treatment in one of its hospitals, leaving behind a collection of murals in the streets of Ramallah and Al-Bireh in the West Bank, as well as a series of novels including "The Smell of Sleep" and "The Stages of Temptation," alongside numerous articles and critical writings. Among the murals Saadieh created is "The Horse Fell from the Poem," inspired by a poem from the late Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish. Saadieh's family sought refuge in Jordan after 1948, but he returned to the Palestinian territories in the 1990s with the signing of the Oslo Accords between Palestinians and Israelis, significantly contributing to the Palestinian cultural and artistic movement.
