The Algerian News Agency reported that security forces in the city of Oran, western Algeria, dismantled a network specialized in international drug trafficking, seizing 60 kg of cannabis that was coming from Morocco. It was clarified that the network is considered "one of the largest drug trafficking networks from Morocco and operates in the field of cannabis trade in western Algeria." Additionally, two of its members were arrested following investigations and monitoring of the activities of the primary suspect.
The agency added, "Two individuals were apprehended after the first suspect arrived from a border city carrying a shipment of drugs in a vehicle to finalize a drug sale with the second suspect, who resides in Oran. A total of 59.5 kilograms of cannabis, two vehicles used for drug trafficking, and four mobile phones were confiscated." It was also mentioned that "the two suspects were presented to justice upon completion of the investigation, which issued a decision to place them in temporary detention. They were charged with transporting, loading, storing, and delivering drugs illegally, money laundering, serious smuggling, and endangering public health and the national economy."
