# Bassil: Existence is Threatened Because Partnership is at Risk

The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, stated today that the movement remains steadfast despite the storms, and that they continue with their belief in their cause and in Lebanon. During a dinner for the Educational Office, he said, "You are the second home for the youth, and you help us prevent them from turning to incitement, hatred, and division." He continued, "We present a unifying discourse and ask you to educate the youth on the correct national path."

Bassil added, "The state's policies are unjust to the educational sector, and the wrong policies have led to this reality where the educational sector is threatened." He reiterated, "If we lose the educational sector, we lose a significant Lebanese advantage; hence, it is crucial to grant teachers their rights within an advanced system."

He also noted that the dangers threatening us have now reached our existence, and facing the war comes in various forms, as there are young people sacrificing their lives for Lebanon. Bassil pointed out that "military resistance is not enough; there is also economic and cultural resistance. The Lebanese are pioneers in all countries, but in Lebanon, the state is failing." He stated, "The threat of war is manageable, and Israel will not be able to defeat Lebanon despite its destructive power."

Bassil continued, "The real danger occurs when someone plays with the foundations of Lebanon, as its existence depends on the partnership between Christians and Muslims; when the role of any component disappears, Lebanon's existence also disappears." He added, "Today, existence is threatened because partnership is threatened, and this is the real danger that we will not stand by and watch. This is where the role of the movement comes in." He concluded, "Everyone else is a spectator while we confront this; they want us to forget that there is an infringement upon the constitution and the national pact through attempts to portray this as a struggle for shares."
