Meteorological Authority Confirms: Low-Pressure System on Sunday, Rainfall Will Not Be Torrential

The Weather Forecast Department of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation expects that the weather tomorrow, Friday, will generally be clear with a slight decrease in temperatures in the mountains and inland, while remaining unchanged on the coast. Winds will be active, intensifying occasionally in the northern regions starting from the evening (65 km/h).

The following was included in the report:

- General situation: Stable weather prevails over Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin until Sunday when winds will strengthen, gradually becoming cloudy and rainy, under the influence of a low-pressure system centered over Greece and approaching the east. This will lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures and the appearance of isolated thunderstorm cells along with active winds. It is too early to discuss the amount of rainfall, but it will not be torrential as rumored on social media.

Note: The average temperatures for September in Beirut range between 24 and 32 degrees, while in Zahle city, it ranges from 16 to 32 degrees.

- Expected weather in Lebanon:

Thursday: Clear in the morning, turning to partly cloudy in the evening with a slight increase in temperatures on the coast and a slight decrease in the mountains and inland, with active winds in the mountains starting in the afternoon and fog in the medium elevations at night.

Friday: Generally clear with a slight decrease in temperatures in the mountains and inland, remaining unchanged on the coast, with active winds intensifying occasionally in the northern regions starting from the evening (65 km/h).

Saturday: Partly cloudy, gradually turning cloudy in the afternoon with high clouds and a further noticeable decrease in temperatures in the mountains and inland, bringing them below average, and a slight increase in temperature on the coast with active winds intensifying occasionally in the northern regions (65 km/h). Fog will continue in the medium elevations at night.

Sunday: Cloudy with high clouds turning to fully cloudy with an additional drop in temperatures and increased wind speed. Conditions are expected to become favorable for the appearance of isolated thunderstorm cells and scattered rainfall ranging from light to moderate in the northern parts of the country.

- Coastal temperatures: From 26 to 31 degrees, in the mountains from 15 to 22 degrees, and inland from 13 to 33 degrees.

- Surface winds: Northwesterly to southwesterly, with speeds between 10 and 30 km/h.

- Visibility: Generally good on the coast and average on the highlands due to fog formation.

- Relative humidity on the coast: Between 35 and 75%.

- Sea conditions: Low wave height, surface water temperature: 30 degrees.

- Atmospheric pressure: 762 mm of mercury.
