Officials and security sources reported that at least one member of the Sunni Sahwa forces was killed in a bomb attack at a checkpoint in Khan Bani Saad, about 50 kilometers north of Baghdad. Two fighters from the government-aligned Sahwa forces were confirmed killed, and at least six others, including five Iraqi soldiers, were injured in the attack. The Iraqi Security Media Cell, the official body responsible for disseminating security information, stated that one person was killed due to the explosion of two bombs near the checkpoint on Saturday evening. They also added in a statement that four people suffered minor injuries. The Security Media Cell's statement indicated that "at 21:40 on Saturday, a bomb exploded near one of the checkpoints belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces in Daoud al-Salem village within Khan Bani Saad district in Diyala governorate, prompting a security force to conduct a search and inspection near the same checkpoint, where another bomb exploded." The statement concluded that the attack resulted in the death of a member of the Popular Mobilization Forces due to his injuries after being taken to the hospital, while four others were slightly injured as a result of this incident.
