Hamas announced that it has reached an agreement with Palestinian factions to form a government for the reconstruction of Gaza and preparation for elections.
In response, Fatah spokesperson Abdul Fattah Dula stated that "no government can be formed outside the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization," as it is the legitimate reference for the Palestinians. Hamas had previously announced that it reached a consensus with Palestinian factions to form a government for the reconstruction of Gaza and preparation for elections. The Fatah spokesperson mentioned, "We seek to form a technocrat government to aid the Palestinians and rebuild Gaza," adding that "the priority now is to restore the political process and reconstruct Gaza."
Additionally, Osama Hamdan, a Hamas leader, announced on Friday that the movement has reached a consensus with Palestinian factions on forming a government tasked with assisting the Palestinian people, launching the reconstruction process in Gaza, and preparing for Palestinian elections. Hamdan emphasized during a press conference in Beirut that Hamas is firm in its demands and its position on the battlefield is supported, claiming that the Israeli army will not be able to achieve its objectives at any stage of the war.
