The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated today, Thursday, that "the US plans to curb operations of Russian oil tankers known as the shadow fleet are unacceptable." The United States and its allies are considering additional sanctions and may take further action to increase the cost for Russia to use a shadow fleet of tankers to evade a price cap set by the Group of Seven on Russian oil.
