Deputy Ghassan Skaf, after meeting with Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi this evening at the patriarchal headquarters in Bkerke, indicated that "what is happening in Lebanon is a search for a president of the republic." He stated, "In this context, I submitted a new initiative to His Beatitude to reach the election of a president as soon as possible." He emphasized that "there is no constitution that allows for the absence of a president," adding, "Mediations should be confidential, especially with the naming of candidates, which necessitates the need for secrecy." Skaf considered that "a ceasefire in Gaza will cool down the southern front, which will ignite the presidential file," saying, "Everyone should be ready to agree at least at the internal level."
